One Day… and Counting

Just a place to record the life and times of me!

The Goal to Live Simply – A Day in the Woods

In the craziness and chaos that I call my life, there are moments when I am able to sneak away for some much needed space and time to refocus my life and rejuvenate. Crafting does that to a certain extent and running even more so….however, spending time in the mountains with my husband is one of the only ways I know of that I can truly get away.
The month of September is one of my favorite times to go camping because it also happens to be archery season. I love the thrill of the hunt even when the result is that we got to check out some new hiking areas. Even though some places are new, I still have my favorites and last Saturday we spent the morning in one of them.

This place is know as ” The Burn”…named because of a fire that occurred there some 15-20 years ago.

I love this place on so many levels…it is quiet, peaceful and home to many, many, old, dead trees.

For reasons I cannot explain, I am fascinated with dead trees. Quite simply, they are beautiful to me. They have stories to tell…if you are willing to listen so, while I didn’t get much done with cleaning out my storage unit, or organizing my clutter at home, I did get to spend some time hunting with my hubby. I also got to spend hours listening to the trees and what they had to say to me was….. amazing.

One Day and Counting….trees that touch my heart.

The Desk….and pints of peach salsa

For some reason my desk seems to be the catch-all for every scrap of paper that seems to find its way into the house. I am not sure if it is the location or simply the fact that it is difficult to throw anything away. At any rate, this is the box of nonsense I have ended up with at the end of “gutting” my desk….

image

In mere minutes this box will be in the trash can outside. I must say that it is a relief to get rid of papers and bill stubs that have collected in this pit. Obviously some things have to be shredded but most of what was collected in this little space….is simply garbage. Now my desk is a whole different scene….

image

You have to look past the mess UNDER the desk….that project is on tap for a later date.

On a different note, I was blessed with the opportunity to go pick peaches off of my niece’s peach tree last week. Since I can’t seem to turn down free peaches…EVER…. I ended up with boxes of them. After three solid nights of slicing and dicing…. I ended up with 63 pints of YUMMY peach salsa.

I truly don’t know how creating hours of work for myself embraces my goal to live simply, but my husband loves the stuff and I do feel a BIG sense of accomplishment.

One Day and Counting….. til the next box of trash is gone!
